Coach Lichu and I departed just after 5AM to drive to Utica. This year we got off at Exit 30 instead of Exit 31 to avoid the congestion coming over the bridge into downtown. They closed off Culver Avenue, but that turned out to be ok, we got off on Broad Street and made a U-Turn and found a close parking spot at Broad and Ontario streets. We arrived just before 7AM. After getting our bibs, checking our bags, we ran into Scott and Ameila at the start line.
I paced myself this year, keeping a 9-minute pace until after the golf course. After mile 6 I was running under 9 minute pace!. See pacing activity at Garmin Connect.
The weather could not have been better. Not too hot and a light breeze. Perfect!
I ran into Kelly after the race and met up with Lichu, Michelle and husband Mike at the post-race party.
I ran negative splits!! My splits: 1st 5K: 28:48, 2nd 5K: 27:10, 10K: 55:57, 3rd 5K: 26:17, 15K: 1:22:14
