All the hard work and training during the winter paid off. I completed my first marathon in Burlington, Vermont on Sunday May 24. The Vermont City Marathon (VCM for short) is a very scenic course which takes you through downtown Burlington 3 times and north and south into the outlying areas. The last 4 miles are along a bike trail that runs along Lake Champlain. I highly recommend this marathon for beginners and veterans alike.
It rained the first half of the course, which kept us cool. The first half of the course I felt pretty good but my knee began acting up at mile 18. I finished in 5 hours 35 minutes. In any case a successful First marathon! More of my statistics are below.
