Today John and I woke up early and headed up to Lake Placid for the Lake Placid Half Marathon -- 10AM start. The weather could not have been better, around 65-70 and overcast. It got a little muggy near the end of the race.
My new Garmin watch did not charge the night before, so I was frustrated that I could not use the fancy GPS technology to monitor my pace. Instead, I picked a couple of runners ahead of me that were going a little faster and kept up or not too far behind.
This course is a different course than the one used for the June Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon. But it was plenty hilly. This was John's first Half Marathon and he did great finishing in 1:52:52. I finished in 02:04:48 not too far behind John.
After the race we headed into Lake Placid for Lunch at the Great Adirondack Brewing Company. We both got the BBQ beef brisket sandwich and lobster bisque! A cold beer too (Abbey Ale for me, Stout for John) so good!
We are confident we will do fine for the upcoming Mohawk Hudson River Marathon in October, where I am running the full marathon and John the half.
